After retiring from a successful international Rugby career, Tony forged himself a name in the competitive world of financial planning before discovering the existence of bark blowers.  Always the astute business man, Tony immediately saw the potential of this technology.  Starting in September 2003 with one small blower truck, a loader and a handful of clients, Tony Rees has been working purposefully to expand the business and acquire more trucks and employ more staff.  Through diligence and tenacity, Tony has earned his company a reputation for hard work, integrity and quality.  Under Tony's guidance, Groundworks has gone on to do massive projects for local and state governments and a multitude of landscaping companies.

 As the person who introduced Ecoblanket to Australia in 2004, Tony constantly fine tunes the processes of application to ensure the very best outcomes for the environment and his clients. Through years of seeking and using advice from eminent soil scientists and native seeds experts, Tony himself has become an expert in environmental revegetation and rehabilitation using Ecoblanket. Currently he is heavily involved in environmental research and development projects with the University of Queensland as well as consulting on Ecoblanket projects for Groundworks around the state.

BUSINESS MANAGERS

As Groundworks slowly added more trucks to its fleet, it became necessary to employ more people to fulfill the needs of our clients. Over the last few years, first Ben Brown and then Simon Hewitt have stepped out of their landscaping roles and joined Groundworks. Both have taken it upon themselves to learn everything about the business from running a blower truck to discussing seed mixes for Ecoblanket and have proven themselves extremely able in this regard.

Ben's natural aptitude has lead him down the path of Ecoblankets, Revegetation, Erosion Control and Soil Stabilisation. Learning from Tony, Ben has managed a huge number of successful Ecoblankets, bringing in consultants and liaising with clients professionally. The growing number of work sites around South East Queensland that are calling Groundworks back again and again are testament to Ben's exceptional understanding of their needs.

While his colleague has shone in the Environmental arm of the business, Simon has effortlessly slipped into the role of major projects coordinator. With many jobs requiring the supply and application of thousands of cubic metres of landscaping products, his attention to detail and flair for managing and coordinating large projects with the utmost efficiency is a huge asset to the company. Simon's work is leaving a trail of satisfied clients all over Brisbane and surrounds.

Both Business Managers are supported by a well rehearsed team of people but most notably Sian Woldseth who looks after paperwork and the internal logistics that are required in the Groundworks delivery process.
